The SSH-6 mid-side stereo shotgun capsule includes a super-directional microphone for picking up sound in the center, as well as a bidirectional side mic for picking up sounds from the left and right. This allows you to record a fully mono-compatible stereo image—ideal for film, video, and television projects. For example, you can capture dialogue with the center mic, and then mix in the desired amount of environmental sound captured by the side mic directly on your Zoom recorder, or in postproduction.

A hairy windscreen is included for reduction of wind noise.

An integral part of Zoom's line of interchangeable input capsules for Zoom's acclaimed H5, H6, and Q8 Handy Recorders, the SSH-6 features two mic elements in a mid-side configuration. Mid-Side recording enables the width of the stereo image to be adjusted during recording or in postproduction, while maintaining full mono compatibility.

The SSH-6 is ideal for location recording of film, video, and television projects. It allows videographers and content creators to capture dialogue or narration with the center microphone, and then mix in the desired amount of environmental sound captured by the side microphone afterwards. In situations where the ambient sound is too intrusive, the side mic level can be reduced to make spoken lines easier to hear. A professional grade hairy windscreen is included with the SSH-6 for the effective reduction of wind noise.
