Solid Hawaiian koa forms the back, sides and top of this Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric, generating a bold, articulate midrange with splashy refined trebles and warmth in the low end. Koa is also famous for its aging properties and will open up over time and play with greater depth and sweetness. V-Class bracing enhances the response with greater volume and longer sustain. A bevy of comfort features includes an armrest, bevelled cutaway, and chamfered body and fretboard edges, and the Silent Satin finish helps reduce incidental noise for recording situations.

Hawaiian Koa

Overview: As a tropical hardwood, a koa top will initially project a bright and focused tone, especially together with koa back and sides, but as it's played, it matures into an increasingly warm, rich, sweet sound with healthy overtone "bloom," especially in the midrange. A common mistake is when a "bright" player buys a koa-top guitar in part for its visual beauty, finds it to be too bright, and doesn't play it enough to allow the wood to develop its resonant tone.

Bevelled Cutaway

Our bevelled cutaway design provides a more player-friendly feel for guitarists who utilize every inch of the fretboard. It features a compound design with a smoothened edge along the corner of the body between the end of the cutaway and the neck heel, providing a more comfortable feel for the fretting hand.

 

 

V-Class™ Bracing

Our patented V-Class bracing is a revolutionary new pattern — a new sonic engine — that marks a major shift away from traditional steel-string bracing patterns. By allowing the soundboard to flex naturally while maintaining rigidity along the centre (in the direction of the strings), V-Class helps enhance the volume and sustain. It also creates a more orderly response from the soundboard. Up and down the fretboard, notes are full, true and consistent, with more harmonic agreement. It represents an entirely new design platform that can be adapted to different body styles in different ways to infuse each with a unique sonic personality.
