Schumann composed his Album for the Young, in 1848 in less than a month. He wrote at the time: ‘I don’t remember ever having been in such good musical form … The pieces simply poured out one after another.’ When the work was first published, it was divided into two parts: ‘für Kleinere’ (for younger people) and ‘für Erwachsenere’ (for older people). This edition, part of ABRSM’s Easier Piano Pieces series, contains the first part (easy to moderately difficult) only.
