The Sonatina in G Major for violin and piano, Op. 100, was written by Antonín Dvo?ák in 1893, while he was staying in New York City. It was the last chamber composition he wrote during his time in America. Dvo?ák wrote the Sonatina for his 15-year-old daughter Ottilie and 10-year-old son Toník. In a letter to Fritz Simrock in 1894, Dvo?ák wrote of the piece: ‘It is intended for youths (dedicated to my two children), but even grown-ups, adults, should be able to converse with it’.
This is an arrangement of the work for viola and piano.
