Dunlop Heavy Core strings are the result of close cooperation between the strings department (led by string guru Les O’Connor) and many of Dunlop endorsed artists. They are nickel-plated and feature a hex core similar to the Dunlop DEN lower tension series and Zakk Wylde series – which features Heavy Core technology, built to Zakk’s custom specs. The Heavy Core series is designed for the player that enjoys higher tension at standard tuning or normal tension at dropped tunings. The 3 available gauges are HEAVY, HEAVIER, and HEAVIEST, and each is based on a different core-to-core wrap ratio to ensure maximum control and comfort while beefing up your tone! with Heavy Core you’ll notice a very well balanced tension in a detuned set up, as well as in standard tuning because of the special balanced core-to-core wrap ratio between the wound strings. One practical advantage with all Dunlop strings is that they are wound at tension and need very little stretching prior to playing them. Pretty much right after stringing up your axe, Dunlop strings are ready to perform with you! Available in 3 gauges:

Heavy DHCN1048 gauge 10,13,17,28,38,48! This set gives you a slightly higher tension at standard tuning: (1st-6th E,B,G,D,A,E) The feel is very similar to a standard 10-46 gauge set, but as the wound strings are just slightly thicker in this set, you will experience a very balanced tension with a touch more clarity and volume. You also won’t have to have your guitar’s nut adjusted to accommodate larger than standard string gauges. Remember, this is a balanced tension set. In this case the 28 string has a heavier core, where as the 38 and 48 strings have a beefed up core-to-wrap ratio. So when used in a detuned style, it keeps the feel of a normal set in standard tuning. It works great in a drop D tuning, giving stability and retaining balance in the total set, and it works perfect when tuned down ? step down: (1st-6th) D#A#F#C#G#D#. And then you can still detune the lower D# to C# as you would do in a “drop D-style” but ? a step down! Heavier DHC1150 Gauge 11,14,18,28,38,50 This balanced tension is created with a .50 regular nickel wound string, and .38 and 28 as Heavy Core! This set works very well if you are looking for a higher tension set compared to standard 10-46in standard tuningand even greater if you play tuned 1 full step down: 1st-6th: DAFCGD (or even in a drop C tuning it retains punch and clarity very well!).

Heaviest: DHCN1254 Gauge 12,16,20plain, 32,42,54 This set has a regular 54 string and 32 and 42 Heavy Core! The 12 to 54 Heavy Core balanced tension set is very effective for drop B tuningor C# tuning (so 1 ? steps down): 1st-6th: C#G#EBF#C#. You will experience a normal tension yet a full bodied sound and incredible control, pitch retention, and performance. And this is the right set to choose if you want play with a plain G string, or some extreme tension in standard tuning!
