The two sets of three Images that Debussy composed in 1905 and1907 are among his most beautiful piano works. The 1907 set is generally more difficult, impressionistic and elaborate than the 1905 set, and it regularly employs 3-stave notation to clearly delineate the separate layers of sound. Perhaps more than any other works in Debussy's oeuvre, with the exception of the Études, the Images demand a rare combination of skill and musicality.
Edition Peters publishes the Images in two books, both of which are available from Waltons.
