EVERYONE CAN LEARN MUSIC

Why play today

Music improves brain function.

Several studies have shown strong correlation between playing music and increased brain functions. So whether a child or older person, it is simply good for your brain.

It helps develop self confidence.

The step by step achievement of learning and improving on an instrument (including your own voice) brings great confidence to people who may have felt music was beyond them. It is achievable for virtually everyone and each step along the way leads to further confidence.

Playing Music improves your emotional well-being.

Playing music has a clearly recognised benefit to your spirit and lifts your emotions. You can feel this yourself when you listen to music you love so imagine what it does for you when you play.

Music improves your social skills.

Music is imbedded in all our most social activities. Playing music with other people is the most extraordinarily human method of communication. You can play music with and be understood by people whose spoken language you can’t speak or understand.

The Different stages of learning to play an instrument.

Starting to play

You can start to learn to play music at any age. The Suzuki method includes teaching of children (with their parent(s)) from age 2. Others believe that from age five children have better focus.

There is no age that is too late to start playing depending on your physical and mental condition. Many people start instruments as adults. We have taught 80 year old music starters!

It is a good idea to pick an instrument that you love to listen to.
Below is a link to a choice of beginner’s instruments for all ages.

Returning to music

You played when you were younger and want to go back. Well do it! Your brain has stored most of what you learned and probably as an adult you will get more out of it. “What should I do?”

Choose the instrument you want to learn. Maybe what you studied originally was not your first love.

Get help! You can get group, one to one or online lessons to get you back and give you confidence. There is a lot of fun to be had as an adult going back to music if you put in the work.

Believe in yourself. If you think you can and are prepared to do the time you will get great pleasure from this journey.

Try something new

So you play an instrument or sing but you’ve seen or heard something else that has taken your fancy!

You should find a second instrument easier than the first (there are exceptions like Uilleann Pipes!) With the first instrument you learned the language of music. You need to apply that language to a different conversation.

You have the confidence to know you learnt your first instruments. Apply it to the second instruments and indeed a third!

I ordered a Slow Airs CD for my husband on the 13th of this month, by Monday the 18th it still had not arrived. I rang your Rosemount dept. I spoke to a lady called Isabell, she was so helpful and said she would look into the tracking with the courier for me. I was so surprised and delighted, as she said she would drop the CD into me on her way home. My husband and I thought this was really the best customer service ever. Please thank Isabell for me as I was not there when she arrived. My husband said she was a really lovely lady. Thanking you for fantastic service.
